Quite simply, Weekends with Dad is a site dedicated to helping single dads make the most of precious time with their kids. It is a source of information, ideas, activities and entertainment. You will find useful links, special offers and tips on how to be the best dad you can be.
Divorce is a trying time for all involved; and sometimes, guys are just not prepared to take over the tasks typically associated with the moms. Weekends with Dad will help you identify those tasks and help you make the necessary decisions to move on with life and help you fulfill the role of being an active, involved parent.
Society tends to stereotype moms and dads into certain roles; after a divorce, each must learn new duties so that the lives of your children can remain as normal as can be. Now, dad, you must bring home the bacon and cook the bacon — you must buy the clothes and wash the clothes. Get the picture? It is being single again, only you have some precious cargo that needs your strength, guidance and day to day care for the days that are yours.
Moving On
Being a great dad is more than paying your child support. It is being involved with the activities of your children…with schools…with Church…whatever makes up the world of your child. It is being active with your child — cook together, do activities, play sports, dance — do not dwell in the past.
About the Founder

I’m Jeff Sowell, founder of Weekends with Dad. I know none of us ever envision ourselves as a weekend dad, but that has become more of the norm in today’s society. This site is designed to help dads make the painful, but real, transition from a united family man to a single parent. I developed the concept for the site in 2005 when I unexpectedly found myself in the role of mom and dad, then launched the site in fall of 2010.
Being a single dad can be an overwhelming responsibility when you are clueless on how to make a boo-boo stop hurting, or how to put your girl’s hair in a pony tail, or baking treats for school when it is their birthday…..all the while still maintaining your household alone. I realized that there are many sites and support groups for moms, but very few for dads.
Prior to Weekends with Dad, I had a 25+ year career in marketing for public companies, as well as my own agency for advertising. I loved what I did, however, God had a different plan for me. A medical issue cut my career short…yet, it was a blessing in disguise. It has allowed me to spend more time with my girls and realize that being rich is not about the monetary things…it is about being rich in love.
I am dedicating this site to my two beautiful daughters. They are my life. They have taught me that I am not only dad, but also the coach, the cheerleader, the cook, the accountant, the taxi driver, the nurse, the ballerina, the teacher and the friend. My life has been enriched because of them everyday. G.M.O.S.T.
